About Us.
ZACK.
I love to travel, but more importantly, I LOVE a good deal. However, I wasn’t always like this. One of my best friends, Dave, actually started the original page, Huntsville Traveler. I was really excited about the business model and what he was doing, so I offered to re-design his logo for him. Before long, he made me a partner. A year later, we decide to take this idea and try to re-brand it so we could eventually cover departure airports from all over the United States. I setup the website, renamed the company, designed the logo and the aesthetics. Dave is the bread and butter of the company. He is the guy that knew the magic of finding the deals. He knew the ins and outs of it all. He taught me over the course of many months. During this time, I had the idea to write some A.I. like software that could do all of this for us. We knew that together, we could only cover, maybe 10 airports, and that we’d have to hire people to cover the entire country. Unless we had software that could help. A year later, Coco came online. Coco finds flights all over the world from every airport in the United States.
Our goals are straightforward.
1. Look for great deals EACH and EVERY day.
2. Make it easy for our subscribers to see the deals.
3. Help you schedule travel around mistake fares as much as possible so you’ll save 50% to 90% compared to what other people on the exact same plane as you are paying.
We are not travel agents.
We are not on commission.
We post deals to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages that are available for all to see. For those wanting to save as much as possible when traveling, you can upgrade to our PlaneSurfers Epic subscription that will save you days of research and hundreds of dollars.
COCO.
Coco lives in the cloud. The picture you see is a photo of the many servers that run a small piece of Amazon Web Services. This is Coco’s home. She lives across many of these all over the world. She has many awesome qualities but here are a few of the big ones:
1. She is constantly improving. If I see a deal she missed, I tell her and she remembers. If she recommends a bad one, same thing.
2. She checks almost 100,000 flights an hour.
3. She creates most of our emails, our website and Facebook posts, as well as many other tasks. Then, she will show us the deal and we either give her the go ahead to send or not. Sometimes, when we know we will be away for a while, we can even set her up to fully automate all of PlaneSurfers. She can even respond to emails and private messages.
4. On average, she finds 5x as many deals as all of our competitors. The deals that our competitors also find, she finds many hours faster. She’s quite proud of that 🙂
5. She has multiple failsafes in case any particular method of her finding deals somehow becomes disabled or unusable for a time.
6. Last, she is the rough equivalent of about 280 people working 24/7. We know this because she searches for each individual flight at human speed to avoid being viewed as a bot which takes her over 10 seconds, and she’s good at multi-tasking, so she does roughly 300 of those at once.
FOCUS GROUP.
I, Zack, quickly figured out that even though I may run PlaneSurfers, I definitely don’t know what’s best for PlaneSurfers. At least not always. So I posted a request asking for the most die hard of PlaneSurfer fans, who were willing to volunteer help, to message me. I took the first 10 that responded over the next few days and with them created a Facebook group.
I run every major decision by them for their input. As of today, their decisions have influenced every major decision PlaneSurfers has made since and they will continue to do so.
Each one of them is special and amazing, and we thank each of you.
